ADHD/Neurodiversity coaching at CMY Counselling helps children better understand themselves, their strengths and challenges, and how neurodivergence affects their daily lives. Coaching focuses on building confidence, developing practical strategies for home and school, and creating routines and habits that work for each individual child.
Coaching is collaborative and goal-oriented. Unlike counselling or therapy, which may explore past experiences and emotional healing, coaching is future-focused and solution-driven. Sessions are tailored to the individual, recognising that every neurodivergent child is unique. Some children need help breaking down homework tasks, improving routines, or managing social situations, while others benefit from support with motivation, self-esteem, or setting and achieving goals. Sessions provide structured support in a safe and encouraging environment.
Session Structure
Option 1: Child/Adolescent Coaching
Sessions take place once a fortnight, at the same day and time for consistency, and are delivered in person or online. Sessions cost £120 per fortnight. Families are encouraged to commit to at least five sessions to allow time to build trust and identify helpful strategies.
Before coaching begins, a parent telephone session is arranged and charged at £20, meaning the first week totals £140. After this, sessions are invoiced fortnightly at £120. Additional parent sessions can be booked at any time and are recommended every four weeks.
Option 2: Family Sessions or Co-Coaching
Over a 10-week period, sessions can alternate weekly between child and parent (five sessions each). Child sessions take place in person, while parent sessions are held via video call. Sessions cost £60 per week.
For children not ready to attend alone, co-coaching sessions with parent and child together can take place once a fortnight for £120.
Option 3: Parent Coaching
Parents can book a 90-minute online session focused on understanding and supporting their child’s ADHD or neurodivergence (no diagnosis required). Topics may include routines, boundaries, emotional regulation, transitions, sleep, nutrition and screen time. This session costs £100.
Follow-up sessions (45 minutes) are £70.
